Throw chunky knit blanket manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize Chenille polyester or Merino wool. Chenille is highly recommended for B2B sourcing because it is pill-resistant, machine washable, and hypoallergenic, making it more durable for retail and hospitality. If sourcing luxury wool, ensure it is unspun roving with a high micron count to minimize shedding, though Chenille remains the most cost-effective and low-maintenance option for mass market distribution.

The quality of a chunky knit blanket depends on the tension of the hand-knitting. Look for a consistent stitch pattern without loose loops that could snag easily. Ensure the edges are reinforced to prevent unravelling. For commercial use, request a weight-to-size ratio check; a standard 50"x60" blanket should typically weigh between 3.5 to 5 lbs to provide the desired 'weighted' comfort without losing its shape.

Products must adhere to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which guarantees the yarn is free from harmful chemicals. For the US market, compliance with CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) is essential if marketed for children. Additionally, ensure the product passes flammability tests (16 CFR Part 1610) to meet safety regulations for home textiles in North America and Europe.

Chunky knit blankets are high-volume items. To optimize logistics, use vacuum-sealed compression packaging. This can reduce the physical volume by up to 60-70%, significantly lowering ocean freight and warehousing costs. However, ensure the supplier uses high-quality PE+PA bags to prevent air leakage during transit and include a professional insert card to help the blanket regain its shape upon opening.

Always request a pre-production sample and perform a 'friction test' to check for pilling. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service to ensure payment is only released after a third-party inspection (such as SGS or Intertek) confirms the material composition and weight match your specifications.

Focus on MOQ flexibility for color assortments. Instead of pushing for the lowest price on a single SKU, negotiate a total volume discount that allows you to mix 3-5 trending colors (like Sage Green, Oatmeal, or Dusty Rose). This reduces your inventory risk while maintaining bulk pricing tiers.

Given the bulkiness, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the only economically viable option for large orders. For Amazon FBA sellers, ensure the supplier provides FNSKU labeling at the source and uses double-walled corrugated export cartons to prevent moisture damage and mold during the 30-45 day sea transit.

Verify the HS Code (typically 6301.10 or 6301.40) with your customs broker to determine the exact duty rates. Ask your supplier if they can provide a Certificate of Origin (CO), which may help in reducing tariffs under certain trade agreements or specific country-of-origin regulations.
