Food paper bags manufacturers

When sourcing food paper bags, the primary concern is the GSM (Grams per Square Meter), which typically ranges from 40gsm to 120gsm. For greasy foods, you must specify greaseproof paper (kit level 1-7) or PE-coated lining to prevent oil leakage. Additionally, ensure the paper is virgin wood pulp rather than recycled material to guarantee it is free from contaminants and odors that could affect food safety.

Suppliers must provide certification proving the bags are safe for direct food contact. The most critical standards include FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) compliance, EU Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, and LFGB (Germany). If your brand focuses on sustainability, look for FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification to ensure the paper is sourced from responsibly managed forests, and EN 13432 for compostability.

Focus on the bottom sealing method (hexagonal vs. square bottom) to ensure it can support the intended weight. For hot foods, verify the breathability to prevent sogginess, while for delivery services, prioritize serrated edge tops to prevent paper cuts and reinforced handles (twisted or flat) that can withstand at least 2-5kg of tension without tearing.

Most professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com offer Flexographic printing using water-based eco-friendly inks, which are non-toxic and low-odor. You should request CMYK or Pantone color matching and confirm the printing plate costs. For premium branding, consider die-cut windows made of PLA (biodegradable film) to showcase the product inside while maintaining eco-friendly standards.

Always request a pre-shipment sample from the mass production run, not just a prototype. Utilize third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to conduct a smell test and grease-resistance test on-site. Ensure the contract specifies that the goods must match the approved golden sample in terms of thickness and tensile strength.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers. Since paper is a commodity, prices fluctuate with raw material costs; ask for a price validity period of 30-60 days. Negotiate for lower MOQs on customized prints by offering to pay for the printing plates upfront, or suggest a blanket order where you commit to a large annual volume but ship in smaller monthly batches to save on storage.

Paper bags are highly sensitive to humidity and moisture. Ensure the supplier uses heavy-duty corrugated export cartons with inner plastic polybags for moisture protection. When shipping to humid climates, request desiccants inside the containers. For shipping to the US or Europe, use FOB terms to maintain control over freight costs, and ensure the HS Code (typically 4819.40) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays.

Use the Secured Trading Service provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until the goods are shipped. Avoid using high-risk payment methods for first-time orders. Verify the supplier's Audit Reports and Business License on the platform to ensure they are a verified manufacturer rather than a small trading company with no quality control over the production line.
