Big aquarium manufacturers

For big aquariums, the choice between Acrylic and Tempered Glass is paramount. Acrylic is preferred for tanks over 500 gallons due to its superior impact resistance, lighter weight, and better clarity, although it scratches easily. If choosing glass, ensure it is Ultra-Clear (Low-Iron) Glass to avoid the green tint in thick panels. The thickness must be calculated based on the height of the water column to prevent bowing or catastrophic structural failure.

Large systems require Sump Filtration rather than standard canister filters. Key components should include High-Capacity Protein Skimmers (for saltwater), UV Sterilizers to control algae and pathogens, and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Pumps which offer energy efficiency and adjustable flow rates. Ensure the system supports a turnover rate of at least 5-10 times the total volume per hour.

Suppliers should provide evidence of Hydrostatic Pressure Testing to ensure the seams can withstand long-term load. Electrical components (pumps, heaters, lighting) must carry CE, UL, or RoHS certifications to ensure safety in wet environments. For commercial installations, verify if the manufacturer follows ASTM standards for structural glazing.

A big aquarium is exceptionally heavy (1 cubic meter of water weighs 1 ton). The Support Stand must be made of Anti-Corrosion Treated Steel (Galvanized or Powder-Coated) or reinforced aluminum. Buyers must ensure the floor load-bearing capacity at the installation site is professionally audited before procurement.

Large aquariums are high-risk cargo. You must mandate Professional Export Packaging, which includes Vacuum-sealed moisture barriers, thick EPS foam corner protection, and reinforced fumigated wooden crates. For extremely large acrylic panels, ensure they are shipped with protective PE film on both sides to prevent scratches during transit.

Focus on the Warranty Period for Leakage; top-tier suppliers usually offer 3 to 5 years on structural integrity. Negotiate for Spare Parts (such as extra gaskets, specialized adhesives, or replacement impellers) to be included in the initial shipment. Also, request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) where the tank is filled with water for 48-72 hours to verify there are no leaks.

Due to the dimensions, these often require Open Top Containers or Flat Rack Containers, which increase freight costs. Ensure the supplier provides an accurate HS Code (typically 7020.00 for glass or 3926.90 for plastics) to determine correct import duties. Always clarify Incoterms; for such large items, CIF or DAP is often preferred to ensure the supplier handles the complex loading process.

Use Secured Payment Terms such as a Letter of Credit (L/C) or escrow services provided by Made-in-China.com. Avoid paying 100% upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance after successful inspection and loading is the industry norm for protecting the buyer's capital.
