Buyers should prioritize engine displacement (typically 125cc to 250cc) and cooling systems (air-cooled vs. liquid-cooled) based on the target market's climate. Ensure the motorcycles feature Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) systems for better fuel efficiency and compliance with modern emission standards. Additionally, verify the braking system configuration, such as front disc and rear drum or dual disc brakes, to meet safety expectations.

Compliance varies by region: for the European market, Euro 5 emission standards and EEC/COC certifications are mandatory. For the African and South American markets, ensure the products meet ISO 9001:2015 for quality management and SONCAP or SABS if applicable. Always request VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) documentation to ensure the units are traceable and legal for road registration.

Evaluate the chassis reinforcement and suspension travel distance. For rural or rugged terrains, prioritize models with dual rear shock absorbers and all-terrain tires. Request salt spray test reports for metal components to ensure rust resistance, especially if the destination is a coastal region. Ground clearance should be at least 160mm for off-road or poorly paved conditions.

Most professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer CKD (Completely Knocked Down) or SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) kits. CKD is highly recommended for high-volume buyers to reduce import tariffs and lower shipping costs by fitting more units into a single container. Ensure the supplier provides a detailed assembly manual and technical video support for your local assembly line.

The main risks include shipping damage and non-conformity with local road regulations. To mitigate these, use reinforced steel-frame packaging rather than just cardboard. Always conduct a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) via a third-party agency to verify that the engine numbers and frame numbers match the commercial invoice and packing list.

Negotiate a spare parts package (usually 2-3% of the total order value) to be included in the initial shipment for common wear-and-tear items like filters, brake pads, and spark plugs. Demand a guaranteed parts supply period of at least 5-8 years for the specific model to ensure your end-users can maintain their vehicles.

For bulk orders, 40HQ containers are the standard, typically holding 20-24 units in CBU (Completely Built Up) form or up to 80-100 units in CKD form. Utilize FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over the freight forwarder and shipping schedule, ensuring the vessel has the necessary equipment to handle heavy automotive cargo.

Use Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment. For large orders, a payment structure of 30% T/T deposit and 70% against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is standard. Avoid using private bank accounts; always ensure the account name matches the registered company name on the business license.
