Woolen jacket manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize the wool content percentage (e.g., 100% wool, 70/30 wool-polyester blends) and the fabric weight, typically measured in GSM (Grams per Square Meter). For winter jackets, a weight of 400-600 GSM is standard for warmth. Additionally, verify the micron count of the fibers; lower microns indicate finer, softer wool like Merino, which reduces skin irritation and enhances the premium feel of the garment.

To ensure market access and consumer safety, verify that suppliers comply with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 for chemical safety and the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) for ethical sourcing. For the U.S. market, adherence to the Wool Products Labeling Act is mandatory, requiring accurate disclosure of fiber content. For the EU, ensure compliance with REACH regulations regarding azo dyes and heavy metals.

Focus on seam strength and stitching density (ideally 10-12 stitches per inch). Check for interlining quality in the chest and collar to ensure the jacket maintains its shape. Request pilling resistance test reports (ISO 12945-2) to ensure the fabric doesn't degrade after friction, and confirm the use of high-quality hardware such as YKK zippers or reinforced horn buttons.

Professional suppliers should offer OEM/ODM services including custom tech packs, private labeling, and bespoke pattern making. Inquire about functional treatments such as water-repellent coatings (DWR) or anti-static finishes. For modern retail, ensure the supplier can provide high-resolution digital assets and is compatible with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software for seamless design transfers.

Always mandate a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third-party agency like SGS or Intertek. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service to ensure payment is only released after the goods pass quality verification. Request a Gold Sample (sealed sample) before mass production to serve as the legal benchmark for the final shipment.

Negotiate based on fabric wastage and seasonal capacity. Placing orders during the off-season (Spring/Summer) can result in 10-20% discounts. If you are a startup, look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com that offer flexible MOQs (e.g., 50-100 pieces) by using 'in-stock' fabrics, which reduces your inventory risk while maintaining a competitive unit price.

Wool is highly susceptible to moisture and mold during sea transit. Ensure the supplier uses silica gel desiccant packets in every polybag and utilizes heavy-duty, moisture-proof outer cartons. For high-value wool/cashmere blends, consider GOH (Garment on Hanger) shipping to prevent deep creasing and reduce the need for expensive professional pressing upon arrival.

Check the HS Code (typically Chapter 62) for your specific country to determine import duties. Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties or specific trade agreements (like RCEP or FTA) that could lower costs. Ensure the Certificate of Origin is accurately prepared by the supplier to claim any applicable preferential tariff rates.
