Tungsten carbide drilling bits manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize the Cobalt (Co) content and Grain Size. For high-impact drilling, a higher cobalt content (8-12%) provides better toughness, while a lower content (6%) increases hardness for abrasive materials. Additionally, ensure the Hardness rating (HRA) is typically between 89 and 94 depending on the application. For precision work, verify the concentricity and diameter tolerance, which should ideally be within ±0.005mm.

Verify that the manufacturer adheres to ISO 9001:2015 for quality management. For specific industrial applications, look for compliance with DIN (German Institute for Standardization) or ANSI (American National Standards Institute) dimensions. It is crucial to request a Material Test Report (MTR) to confirm the chemical composition and a Hardness Test Report to ensure the bits won't fail under high-stress thermal conditions.

The choice of coating significantly impacts tool life. TiN (Titanium Nitride) is excellent for general-purpose drilling, while TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) is superior for high-temperature operations and hard alloys due to its thermal stability. For non-ferrous metals like aluminum, a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating is recommended to prevent chip welding and reduce friction.

Focus on the Cost-Per-Hole (CPH) rather than the initial purchase price. High-quality tungsten carbide bits may have a higher upfront cost but offer 3-5 times longer tool life than HSS bits, reducing downtime for tool changes. Negotiate tiered pricing where a 500-unit order might yield a 15-20% discount compared to sample prices.

The primary risk is material substitution, where suppliers use recycled carbide scrap instead of virgin powder, leading to premature breakage. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and insist on a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by third parties like SGS or Intertek to verify the density and transverse rupture strength.

Always utilize Escrow-based payment terms or Letters of Credit (L/C) for large volumes. Clearly define the Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) in the contract. If the batch failure rate exceeds 2%, the supplier should be contractually obligated to provide free replacements or a credit note for the next order.

Tungsten carbide is dense and heavy; therefore, sea freight is most economical for bulk, while air express (DHL/FedEx) is better for urgent samples. Ensure the supplier provides the correct HS Code (typically 8207.50) to avoid customs delays. For high-value shipments, always purchase Marine/Cargo Insurance covering 110% of the CIF value to protect against loss or damage during transit.

Look for the 'Audited Supplier' badge on Made-in-China.com, which indicates the factory has been physically verified. Review their production capacity per month and check if they have in-house CNC grinding machines and vacuum sintering furnaces, as this ensures better control over the entire production cycle compared to trading companies.
