Tennis overgrip manufacturers

Professional-grade overgrips are primarily made of Polyurethane (PU). You should prioritize materials with a thickness between 0.4mm and 0.7mm to balance feel and cushioning. For high-humidity markets, ensure the supplier uses non-woven fabric bases with high absorption rates. Additionally, verify the tackiness level (Dry vs. Tacky) to match specific player preferences, as this directly impacts grip stability and sweat management.

Request the supplier to provide abrasion resistance test reports and colorfastness ratings (Grade 4 or higher) to ensure the dye does not bleed onto the player's hands. It is essential to test the elasticity recovery rate; a high-quality overgrip should stretch significantly without tearing and return to its original shape. I recommend sourcing samples for a 'sweat-test' to evaluate how the grip performs when saturated, as inferior products lose friction immediately when wet.

Since overgrips have prolonged skin contact, they must comply with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) standards for the EU market or CPSIA for the US. Ensure the products are free from harmful phthalates and lead. For eco-conscious brands, look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com that offer biodegradable PU options or use water-based solvents during the manufacturing process to reduce VOC emissions.

Top-tier manufacturers should offer customized embossing (logo printing), specific perforation patterns for enhanced breathability, and bespoke packaging (e.g., blister packs, jars, or rolls). Confirm if the supplier can provide custom length adjustments (standard is ~1100mm) to accommodate extra-long handles or double-handed backhands. Ensure they can match Pantone colors with a low variance to maintain brand consistency.

PU materials can degrade if exposed to extreme heat during transit. Require the supplier to use moisture-proof and UV-shielded vacuum packaging. For large sea freight orders, specify stowage away from heat sources on the vessel. Always include a shelf-life guarantee in your contract, ensuring the tackiness remains optimal for at least 12-18 months under proper storage conditions.

Because overgrips are lightweight but can be bulky in retail packaging, Sea Freight (LCL) is most economical for orders exceeding 5,000 units. However, for initial market testing, Air Express is viable due to the high value-to-weight ratio. To optimize costs, consider bulk rolls (30-60 grips per roll) instead of individual retail blisters to reduce volume weight by up to 40%.

Start by requesting a tiered pricing structure based on volume (e.g., 1k, 5k, 10k units). Negotiate for free finishing tapes (the adhesive strip at the top) to be included in the unit price. For long-term partnerships, ask for payment terms like Net 30 after a successful initial deposit (30/70) period. Always use Trade Resources and verified supplier profiles to ensure you are dealing with a factory rather than a small trading company.

Always insist on a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third party. Define 'defective' clearly in the purchase order—such as peeling, uneven thickness, or adhesive failure. Use Secure Payment services provided by reputable platforms to ensure funds are only released upon confirmation of the Bill of Lading and inspection satisfaction. This creates a financial safety net for the buyer.
