Silver jewellery manufacturers

The industry standard for high-quality silver is S925 (Sterling Silver), which contains 92.5% pure silver. Buyers should look for the '925' hallmark stamped on the product. For bulk orders, it is essential to request a Chemical Analysis Report or a Third-Party Lab Test (SGS/TUV) to ensure the metal does not contain harmful levels of Nickel, Lead, or Cadmium, which are restricted under EU REACH and US CPSIA regulations.

Silver naturally oxidizes, so professional buyers should prioritize pieces with protective plating. Rhodium plating is the premium choice as it provides a high-shine, scratch-resistant finish that prevents tarnishing. Other effective options include 14K/18K Gold plating (Vermeil) or E-coating (Electrophoretic coating), which adds a transparent protective layer to maintain the jewelry's luster during long-term storage and transit.

Examine the polishing quality; high-end pieces should have a mirror-like finish with no visible pitting or tool marks. For stone-set jewellery, ensure Prong Setting or Bezel Setting is used rather than just glue, as this ensures the stones remain secure. Additionally, check the functionality of clasps (lobster or spring rings) and the smoothness of solder joints to ensure durability and wearer comfort.

Pricing is typically calculated based on the current silver market price + labor cost + plating fee. Buyers should monitor the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) silver fix. To optimize costs, consider bulk purchasing to reduce the per-unit labor cost, and negotiate tiered pricing where the labor fee decreases as the volume increases. Always clarify if the quoted price includes packaging and branding (OEM/ODM).

The primary risks include purity fraud (under-karatage) and material substitution. Some suppliers may use brass or copper with a thick silver coating. To mitigate this, use Trade Assurance services on Made-in-China.com and insist on a pre-shipment inspection (PSI). Another risk is intellectual property (IP) infringement; ensure the designs do not violate existing brand patents to avoid customs seizures.

Silver is sensitive to moisture and air. Products should be packed in anti-tarnish strips or hermetically sealed PE bags to prevent oxidation during sea or air freight. For high-value shipments, use discreet, reinforced outer cushioning and avoid labeling the exterior box with words like 'Jewellery' or 'Silver' to reduce the risk of theft during transit.

Focus on MOQ flexibility for new designs and mold fee waivers for large repeat orders. Negotiate a defective rate allowance (typically 1-2%) where the supplier provides extra units or credit for future orders. For long-term partnerships, request exclusive design rights for specific geographic markets to maintain your competitive edge.

Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualification on Made-in-China.com. Ensure the Incoterms (e.g., DAP or CIF) are clearly defined in the contract. Be aware of import duties and HTS codes (typically Chapter 71) for your specific country to calculate the Total Landed Cost accurately and avoid unexpected tax liabilities at customs.
