Shore hardness tester manufacturers

Choosing the right scale is critical for accuracy. Use Shore A for soft elastomers and flexible plastics like rubbers, leather, and soft PVC. Select Shore D for hard elastomers and rigid plastics such as hard resin, acrylic, and plexiglass. For extremely soft materials like foam, sponges, or gel, a Shore OO scale is required. Using the wrong scale will result in invalid data and potential damage to the sample.

Prioritize testers with a resolution of 0.5HD/0.5HA or better. Ensure the device features a constant force loader (test stand) compatibility to eliminate human error caused by varying manual pressure. For digital models, look for peak-hold functions and data output ports (RS232/USB) to integrate with quality control software. The indentor geometry must strictly adhere to ASTM D2240 or ISO 868 standards.

Suppliers must provide a Calibration Certificate traceable to national standards (like NIST or equivalent). For the European market, CE Marking is mandatory to ensure electromagnetic compatibility. Ensure the manufacturer follows ISO 9001 quality management systems to guarantee batch-to-batch consistency. If the device includes electronic components, verify RoHS compliance for hazardous substance restriction.

Standard Shore hardness tests require a minimum material thickness of 6mm (0.24 inches). If your target materials are thinner, you must instruct suppliers to provide test blocks for stacking or source a Micro-Shore tester. Purchasing a dedicated test stand is highly recommended for thin samples to maintain the parallelism between the indentor and the specimen surface.

Always request a pre-shipment inspection report that includes a video of the tester measuring a standardized hardness block. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone third-party verification by SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Ensure the contract specifies that the device must pass a local third-party calibration upon arrival before final payment release.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for the inclusion of a complete set of calibrated test blocks (e.g., a 3-piece or 7-piece set) as part of the bundle. For bulk orders, request a 2-year extended warranty and ask for spare indentors, as these are wear-and-tear parts that are costly to ship individually later.

Ensure the supplier uses anti-static and shock-absorbent packaging (typically a padded plastic carrying case inside a reinforced carton). Since digital testers contain lithium batteries, confirm the supplier provides the necessary MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and UN38.3 reports to avoid customs delays or airline rejection. For shipping to the US or EU, clarify the HS Code (typically 9024.80) to accurately calculate import duties.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is held in escrow until you confirm receipt of the goods. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. Clearly define Acceptance Criteria in the Purchase Order, stating that the equipment must meet ±1 grade accuracy relative to the provided reference blocks.
