Sealing adhesive tape manufacturers

The choice of base material determines the tape's strength and application. BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) is the most common for general carton sealing due to its high tensile strength and cost-effectiveness. For heavy-duty industrial packaging, consider reinforced filament tape or PVC tape, which offers better moisture resistance and toughness. If sustainability is a priority, Kraft paper tape (water-activated or self-adhesive) is the preferred eco-friendly alternative.

Buyers must evaluate three core metrics: Adhesion to Steel (180° peel strength), Tensile Strength, and Elongation at Break. For standard shipping, an adhesive thickness of 20-25 microns (total thickness of 40-50 microns) is usually sufficient. Ensure the supplier provides a Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and verify that the tape performs well under extreme temperatures if the goods are stored in non-climate-controlled warehouses.

Acrylic adhesive is the industry standard for long-term storage because it is UV resistant and does not yellow over time. However, for high-speed automated packaging lines or cold storage environments, Hot Melt (Synthetic Rubber) adhesive is superior due to its quick tack and aggressive initial bond. For recycled corrugated boxes, which have shorter fibers, a higher-tack adhesive is required to prevent 'pop-opens'.

Ensure the product complies with REACH and RoHS standards to guarantee it is free from hazardous substances. For food-grade packaging, the adhesive must meet FDA 175.105 requirements. If exporting to the EU or North America, check for ISO 9001 manufacturing certification and SGS testing reports to ensure consistent quality across batches.

Adhesive tape is sensitive to heat and humidity. When shipping via sea, ensure the goods are packed in moisture-proof pallets with shrink wrap. Request the supplier to use reinforced inner cores to prevent roll deformation under pressure. It is advisable to avoid 'top-loading' in containers to prevent crushing, which can cause the adhesive to bleed from the sides of the rolls (oozing).

Focus on the price per square meter rather than price per roll, as roll lengths can vary. Negotiate MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) based on customized printing needs; branded tape usually requires a higher MOQ but offers marketing value and anti-tamper security. Ask for tiered pricing—discounts of 10-20% are common when moving from LCL (Less than Container Load) to a Full 20ft Container (FCL).

Utilize the secure payment and inspection services provided by Made-in-China.com. Always request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) to verify the actual length and width of the rolls using a caliper and tape measure. To prevent 'short-rolling' (where a 100m roll is actually 90m), include a guaranteed length clause in your Proforma Invoice (PI).

Since adhesive tape is dense and heavy, sea freight is the only economically viable option for bulk orders. To optimize costs, calculate the loading factor of the container; standardizing carton sizes can increase container utilization by 15%. For urgent samples, use international couriers, but ensure the supplier declares them as 'Commercial Samples' to simplify customs clearance.
