Scratch art manufacturers

Since scratch art is primarily a children's stationery and craft item, compliance is the most critical factor. You must ensure the black coating is non-toxic and odorless. For the US market, products must meet ASTM D-4236 and CPSIA standards. For the EU, EN71 (Parts 1, 2, and 3) certification is mandatory to ensure the absence of heavy metals and phthalates. Always request MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for the ink and coating materials.

High-quality scratch art should have a uniform, matte black coating that does not flake off prematurely but is easy to scratch with a wooden stylus. The base paper should be thick cardstock (at least 250-300 GSM) to prevent tearing or curling. For 'Rainbow' scratch art, the underlying colors should be vibrant and well-saturated, while 'Gold/Silver' foil versions should have a high-gloss metallic finish that doesn't tarnish.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com typically offer extensive OEM/ODM services. You can customize the printed patterns (stencils or pre-printed outlines), the packaging (OPP bags, color boxes, or envelopes), and the stylus material (bamboo, plastic, or dual-tip metal). For educational retailers, branded logo printing on the back of the scratch cards is a common requirement to enhance brand recognition.

Scratch art is highly versatile, targeting educational institutions (kindergartens and schools), DIY craft kits for retail, and therapeutic art for seniors. Recently, there has been a surge in 'Adult Scratch Art' featuring intricate cityscapes or mandalas, which requires higher precision and premium packaging compared to children's sets.

The most common risk is the coating drying out or becoming too brittle during long-term sea freight. To mitigate this, request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) to test the 'scratchability' of samples from the mass production batch. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-proof packaging (silica gel packets and shrink-wrap) to protect the paper from humidity during transit.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers; because the unit cost is low, shipping often accounts for a large portion of the total cost. Negotiate for free spare styluses (usually 2-5% extra) as these are easily lost by end-users. If you are a repeat buyer, negotiate for customized inner-page designs without additional plate-making fees after the first order.

Scratch art is heavy and dense, making Sea Freight or Railway Freight the most economical options for bulk orders. To prevent corner damage, insist on double-corrugated export cartons and palletization with edge protectors. For smaller trial orders, Air Express is viable but ensure the volumetric weight is optimized by minimizing excess air in the packaging.

Always conduct transactions through secured payment channels provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Utilize their Audit Reports and 'Diamond Member' status to verify the supplier's factory scale and export history. Avoid direct transfers to private bank accounts; always pay to the verified company account listed on the platform.
