Remote radio unit manufacturers

When sourcing RRUs, you must focus on Frequency Band Compatibility (e.g., Sub-6GHz or mmWave) and Output Power (typically 40W to 80W per channel). Ensure the unit supports MIMO technology (Multiple Input Multiple Output), such as 4T4R or 8T8R, to enhance spectral efficiency. Additionally, verify the Instantaneous Bandwidth (IBW) and Occupied Bandwidth (OBW) to ensure they meet your network capacity requirements.

Compatibility is primarily determined by the CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) or eCPRI protocol version. You must confirm that the RRU's interface rate (e.g., 9.8 Gbps or 25 Gbps) matches your BBU. It is highly recommended to source from suppliers who provide interoperability testing reports or those who follow Open RAN (O-RAN) standards to avoid vendor lock-in.

Since RRUs are typically mounted on towers, an IP65 or IP66 ingress protection rating is essential to withstand dust and heavy rain. For international trade, ensure the products carry CE, FCC, or RoHS certifications. Furthermore, check for operating temperature tolerances (usually -40°C to +55°C) and lightning protection (surge protection levels of at least 10kV).

RRUs are categorized by application: Macro RRUs are used for wide-area coverage in rural or urban settings, while Micro RRUs or Pico RRUs are designed for high-density indoor areas like malls or stadiums. For specialized coverage along railways or highways, look for units with high-speed mobility handover support.

Request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) conducted by a third-party agency like SGS or Intertek. Specifically, ask for a Functional Test Report and a Burn-in Test (running the unit for 24-48 hours) to identify early-life failures. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize 'Audited Suppliers' who provide transparent factory video tours.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for extended warranties (3-5 years) and the inclusion of mounting kits and specialized cables in the package. For bulk orders, aim for a 10-15% discount or request free spare parts (5% buffer) to handle onsite maintenance.

RRUs contain sensitive RF circuitry; therefore, anti-static packaging and shock-absorbent foam are non-negotiable. Ensure the wooden pallets are fumigated (ISPM 15 standard) for international transit. Use Incoterms like CIF or DAP if you want the supplier to handle the complexities of freight insurance and international logistics.

Verify the HS Code (typically under 8517.62) to determine import duties in your country. Be aware of National Security regulations regarding telecommunications infrastructure; always ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin and necessary Type Approval licenses required by your local telecom regulatory authority.
