Putty toy manufacturers

Safety is the highest priority for putty toys as they are handled directly by children. You must ensure the product complies with EN71 (Parts 1, 2, and 3) for the European market and ASTM F963 for the United States. Specifically, verify that the Boron content is within legal limits (typically <300mg/kg for liquid/sticky materials in the EU) to avoid product recalls. Always request a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) and a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) from the supplier.

High-quality putty should exhibit excellent elasticity, non-sticky texture (leaves no residue on hands), and long-term moisture retention. Ask suppliers about their anti-drying formulas; premium putty should remain pliable for at least 12-24 months if sealed correctly. Request samples to test for color bleeding (staining) and to ensure the scent additives (if any) are food-grade and non-irritating.

To stand out, consider sourcing specialized types such as Magnetic Putty (reactive to magnets), Thermochromic Putty (changes color with heat), or Glow-in-the-dark Putty. For educational markets, Intelligent Putty that can be bounced like a ball or shattered upon high impact offers higher value. Ensure that any add-ins like glitter, beads, or charms are securely mixed and meet small parts choking hazard regulations.

Putty is sensitive to air exposure and temperature. Ensure the primary container is airtight and made of BPA-free PP plastic or tin. For bulk shipping, use moisture-proof outer cartons and consider temperature-controlled logistics if shipping to extremely hot climates to prevent the putty from melting or becoming too liquid during transit.

Putty is often classified as a 'sensitive' cargo (liquid/paste) by international couriers. To avoid customs seizures, work with suppliers on Made-in-China.com who provide a Non-Hazardous Cargo Declaration and an Identification and Classification Report for Air/Sea Transport of Goods. Using specialized freight forwarders experienced in chemical-adjacent products is highly recommended.

Focus on MOQ for custom colors and scents. While standard putty may have a low MOQ, custom branding (OEM) usually requires 3,000 to 5,000 units. Negotiate for tiered pricing where a 20% increase in volume could lead to a 5-10% unit price reduction. Also, insist on a pre-shipment inspection clause where a third party (like SGS or Intertek) verifies the chemical composition before final payment.

Always use Secured Trading Services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. Utilize Escrow-based payment systems where funds are only released to the supplier once you confirm the Bill of Lading (B/L) or the inspection report. Verify if the supplier is an Audited Supplier to ensure they have a physical factory and legitimate business license.

Ensure the putty does not infringe on trademarks like 'Silly Putty' or 'Thinking Putty.' If the product includes licensed characters or specific patented textures, ask the supplier for a Letter of Authorization (LOA). Importing counterfeit or infringing goods can lead to heavy fines and destruction of inventory at the port of entry.
