Prefab cold room manufacturers

When sourcing a prefab cold room, you must prioritize insulation panel thickness and material. For chillers (0°C to +5°C), 100mm PIR/PU panels are standard, while freezers (-18°C to -25°C) require at least 150mm thickness. Ensure the density of the polyurethane foam is ≥40kg/m³ to guarantee thermal efficiency. Additionally, verify the refrigeration unit brand (e.g., Bitzer, Copeland) and the evaporator's cooling capacity to match your specific volume and product load requirements.

To ensure safety and market entry, the equipment should carry CE certification for the European market or UL/NSF certification for North America, especially if used for food storage. The insulation panels should meet B1 or B2 fire rating standards (ASTM E84 or EN 13501) to comply with building safety codes. Furthermore, ensure the refrigerant used (such as R404A or R448A) aligns with your local environmental regulations regarding GWP (Global Warming Potential).

Focus on the cam-lock connection system, which ensures airtight joints and ease of assembly. The surface material of the panels should be food-grade stainless steel (SUS304) or color-bonded galvanized steel with a thickness of at least 0.5mm to prevent corrosion. For walk-in units, the floor reinforcement is critical; ensure it can handle the static and dynamic loads of your shelving or forklifts, often requiring a reinforced aluminum checkered plate or concrete screed finish.

Prefab cold rooms are highly versatile, commonly used in food processing plants, pharmaceutical storage (GSP compliant), floral distribution, and commercial kitchens. They are also essential for logistics hubs requiring modular expansion. For specialized needs like medical vaccines, the system must include redundant refrigeration units and real-time temperature monitoring/alarm systems to prevent inventory loss.

The biggest risks are shipping damage to panels and technical incompatibility. Panels are prone to denting; insist on reinforced wooden crate packaging or steel frame pallets. To avoid technical issues, confirm the voltage and frequency (e.g., 380V/3Phase/50Hz vs 220V/60Hz) of your destination country before production, as converting power for large compressors is costly and inefficient.

Request a detailed technical drawing and heat load calculation report before paying a deposit. Negotiate for a staged payment plan (e.g., 30% deposit, 60% after FAT/video inspection, 10% after arrival). Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service to protect your funds. Always ask for a spare parts kit (including door gaskets, controllers, and sensors) to be included in the initial shipment to minimize future downtime.

Since cold rooms are bulky, FCL (Full Container Load) is highly recommended to reduce handling damage. Ensure the supplier provides a detailed installation manual and video guide, as sending technicians overseas is expensive. Verify if the supplier offers remote technical support via AR or video call. For customs, ensure the HS Code (typically 841869) and Certificate of Origin are accurate to benefit from potential tariff preferences.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' on Made-in-China.com who have undergone third-party onsite inspections by SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Request past project cases or client references in your region. A reliable supplier should be able to provide factory test run videos of the refrigeration unit showing the temperature pull-down rate before the balance payment is made.
