Prawn cracker manufacturers

When sourcing prawn crackers, the shrimp content percentage is the primary quality indicator; premium products typically contain 15% to 35% real shrimp meat. Ensure the base starch is high-quality tapioca starch for the desired crispness. You must verify that the product is free from excessive artificial colors (like Tartrazine) and uses food-grade seasonings that meet international safety standards.

As a food product, prawn crackers must adhere to strict global standards. Ensure the supplier holds HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and ISO 22000 certifications. For specific markets, verify FDA registration (USA), EFSA compliance (EU), or Halal Certification, which is often a critical requirement for Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern markets.

Buyers must choose between unfried pellets (half-finished) and ready-to-eat (RTE) snacks. For pellets, check the moisture content (ideally <12%) to ensure a long shelf life and expansion rate (usually 3-4 times original size) when fried. For RTE products, focus on oil type used (e.g., palm or sunflower oil) and nitrogen-flushed packaging to prevent rancidity and breakage during transit.

Prawn crackers are highly fragile. For bulk pellet orders, use double-layered moisture-proof PE bags inside corrugated cartons. For retail-ready bags, insist on 5-layer export-standard outer cartons and palletization with shrink wrap to minimize crushing and humidity exposure during sea freight.

The biggest risks are shelf-life expiration and customs rejection due to non-compliant labeling. Mitigate this by requesting production dates within 30 days of shipment and ensuring all labels include allergen warnings (Crustaceans), ingredient lists in the destination language, and country of origin markings.

Focus on Volume-Based Pricing; ordering in Full Container Loads (FCL) can reduce unit costs by 20-30% compared to LCL due to lower handling risks. Request OEM/Private Labeling services early in the negotiation, as many top-tier suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer custom packaging design for orders exceeding 500-1,000 cartons.

Always use Secured Trading Services provided by the platform to protect your funds. For large orders, a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is common. Avoid direct wire transfers to unverified personal accounts; ensure the beneficiary name matches the company name on the business license.

For unfried pellets, standard dry containers are sufficient if kept away from heat sources. However, for ready-to-eat snacks in high-temperature regions, consider reefer containers (set to 18-22°C) to prevent oil oxidation. Always choose reputable freight forwarders experienced in food logistics to handle Customs Clearance and Quarantine (CIQ) documentation efficiently.
