Plastic eyeglasses manufacturers

Buyers should distinguish between Cellulose Acetate, TR-90 (Thermoplastic Polyamide), and PC (Polycarbonate). Acetate is preferred for high-end fashion due to its rich color depth and hypoallergenic properties, while TR-90 is ideal for sports eyewear because of its extreme flexibility, lightweight nature, and memory features. PC is the most cost-effective option but is more prone to stress cracks and lacks the premium feel of the other two.

For the US market, products must be FDA Registered and comply with ANSI Z80.3 for impact resistance. For the EU, CE Marking is mandatory, ensuring compliance with EN ISO 12870 (ophthalmic optics) and REACH regulations to ensure the plastic does not contain harmful phthalates or lead. Always request Declaration of Conformity (DoC) documents from the supplier.

Prioritize frames with integrated or 3-barrel/5-barrel metal hinges for durability. Request a bridge deformation test and temple folding test (minimum 20,000 cycles) report. For high-quality acetate frames, ensure the wire core is visible inside the temples, as this allows for manual adjustment to fit the wearer's face without breaking the plastic.

Modern buyers expect Blue Light Blocking coatings, Anti-Reflective (AR) treatments, and UV400 protection. If sourcing for retail, ensure the lenses are optical grade (Class 1) to prevent distortion. For eco-conscious brands, inquire about Bio-acetate or recycled plastic frames to align with sustainability trends.

The biggest risks are intellectual property (IP) infringement and material substitution. Ensure the design does not violate existing patents or trademarks. To prevent suppliers from using recycled scrap plastic instead of virgin resin, specify the exact material grade in the contract and use third-party inspections (like SGS or TUV) before final payment.

Focus on tiered pricing based on MOQ; for example, ask for a 15-20% discount if increasing the order from 500 to 2,000 units. Negotiate for OEM services such as custom logo laser engraving and branded packaging to be included in the unit price. Always request a pre-production sample to be kept as a 'Golden Sample' for quality comparison.

Eyewear is susceptible to pressure damage. Insist on individual polybags and bubble wrap, packed into double-walled corrugated export cartons. For large volumes, use FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over your shipping costs and choose a freight forwarder experienced in medical device classification (if the glasses are frames for prescription lenses) to avoid customs delays.

Utilize the Secured Trading services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payments. Never wire full payments to private bank accounts; always use corporate accounts verified by the platform. Ensure the Sales Confirmation (SC) clearly states the lead time, defect rate allowance (typically <2%), and refund policy for non-compliant goods.
