Plastic broom mould manufacturers

When sourcing a plastic broom mould, the steel grade is the most critical factor for durability. For high-volume production, look for H13 or S136 stainless steel with a hardness of HRC 45-52 to ensure a lifespan of over 1 million shots. Additionally, verify the runner system; while cold runners are cheaper, hot runner systems (like Yudo or Mold-Master) significantly reduce material waste and cycle times. Ensure the mould design includes an efficient cooling system to prevent warping of the broom head.

You must provide the supplier with your machine's clamping force, tie-bar spacing, and maximum shot weight. The mould's base dimensions must fit within your machine's platens. It is essential to confirm the ejection method (mechanical or hydraulic) and the locating ring diameter to ensure seamless integration. Requesting a 2D/3D mould layout (DWG or STP files) before production is a standard industry practice for compatibility verification.

Prioritize suppliers with ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management. For the product itself, ensure the mould can produce broom heads that meet REACH or RoHS compliance if you are exporting to the EU or North America. A professional manufacturer should provide a Steel Certification Report and a Heat Treatment Report to prove the authenticity and processing quality of the mould components.

To maintain precision, the mould requires regular lubrication of moving parts (sliders and ejector pins) every 24 hours of operation. Preventative maintenance should be performed every 100,000 cycles, including cleaning the cooling channels to prevent lime scale buildup. Choosing a supplier that offers spare parts like springs, ejector pins, and nozzles in the initial package is highly recommended for minimizing downtime.

Always insist on a T1 sample test and a video of the mould running in dry-cycle and full-production modes. For high-value orders, hire a third-party inspection agency to visit the factory during the Mold Flow Analysis stage and the final FAT (Factory Acceptance Test). On platforms like Made-in-China.com, look for 'Audited Suppliers' to ensure the factory's manufacturing capabilities have been independently verified.

Mould pricing is highly dependent on the number of cavities and the steel type. Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the initial price; a cheaper mould with a shorter life cycle is more expensive in the long run. Standard lead times are 35 to 60 days. You can often negotiate a staged payment plan (e.g., 40% deposit, 30% after T1 sample approval, 30% before shipment) to keep the supplier accountable for deadlines.

Moulds are susceptible to rust during sea freight. Ensure the supplier applies anti-rust oil to all surfaces and uses vacuum-sealed plastic wrapping before placing the mould in a fumigated wooden crate. For international trade, FOB (Free On Board) is recommended as it allows you to control the shipping costs and choose a freight forwarder experienced in handling heavy machinery.

Before sharing any 3D designs or proprietary functional features, require the supplier to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that is valid under the jurisdiction of the manufacturing country. Ensure the contract explicitly states that the ownership of the mould and the design remains with the buyer, and the supplier is prohibited from using the mould to produce goods for other clients.
