Focus on material durability and print resolution. For canvas prints, ensure a weight of 280-380gsm and the use of archival-grade pigment inks to prevent fading. For framed art, specify E1 or E0 grade MDF or solid wood frames to meet environmental standards, and request tempered glass or high-transparency acrylic (PMMA) to ensure safety during transit and clarity of the artwork.

Verify that the supplier complies with REACH or RoHS standards for ink toxicity and lead content, especially if the products are intended for residential or childcare environments. For wooden components, ensure FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification for sustainable sourcing and CARB Phase 2 compliance for formaldehyde emissions if exporting to the U.S. market.

Commercial applications (hotels, offices) require fire-retardant treatments (meeting NFPA 701 or local equivalents) and moisture-resistance, particularly for art placed in humid environments like bathrooms or coastal resorts. Additionally, look for anti-UV coatings to maintain color integrity under heavy artificial lighting or direct sunlight.

Request a pre-production sample to check for color accuracy (Delta E < 2.0) and alignment. Ask for photos of the back-side finishing, including the tension of the canvas and the quality of the staples or mounting hardware. A professional supplier should provide high-resolution original files or proofing services to ensure the final print matches your brand's aesthetic.

The biggest risk is breakage and moisture damage. You must mandate 5-layer corrugated outer cartons, corner protectors, and vacuum-sealed plastic wrapping. For large-scale framed art, wooden crates or pallets are essential. Ensure your contract includes a clear damage compensation clause and consider CIF terms to include insurance for high-value shipments.

Leverage volume-based pricing by requesting a tiered quote (e.g., 100, 500, and 1000 units). Negotiate for customized packaging or private labeling at lower MOQs by offering a long-term cooperation intent. Always verify the supplier's Audit Reports on the platform to ensure they are a manufacturer rather than a middleman to secure factory-direct pricing.

Use Secured Trading Services provided by the platform to ensure payment is only released upon proof of shipment. For first-time orders, utilize third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to conduct a Final Random Inspection (FRI) before the balance payment is made. This prevents the risk of receiving sub-standard goods that are costly to return.

Ensure the supplier has the legal right to reproduce the images. If providing your own designs, sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and a Non-Use/Non-Circumvention agreement to prevent the supplier from selling your proprietary designs to other buyers. Check that the supplier has a clean record regarding copyright infringement in their export history.
