Metal candy mold manufacturers

B2B buyers should prioritize Food-Grade Aluminum or Stainless Steel (304 or 316 grade). Aluminum offers superior heat conductivity for rapid cooling, while stainless steel provides maximum durability and corrosion resistance against acidic ingredients. Ensure the surface has a non-stick coating (PFOA-free) or a mirror-polished finish to facilitate easy release of delicate confectionery.

For the US market, products must be FDA compliant (21 CFR 175.300) regarding food contact substances. For the EU, adherence to LFGB (Lebensmittel- und Futtermittelgesetzbuch) and Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 is essential. Always request Migration Test Reports from the supplier to ensure no heavy metals or toxic chemicals leach into the candy during the heating process.

For intricate designs, CNC Machined Molds offer the highest precision with tolerances as low as ±0.05mm, ideal for branded chocolates or hard candies. Die-casting is more cost-effective for high-volume production but may require secondary polishing to remove parting lines. Ensure the mold design includes a draft angle (usually 1-2 degrees) to prevent the candy from sticking during demolding.

Look for molds designed with standardized outer dimensions compatible with automated depositing machines (e.g., Bosch or Baker Perkins lines). Features like magnetic inserts for quick-change systems and integrated cooling channels can significantly reduce cycle times and increase hourly output by up to 20%.

Always utilize Third-Party Pre-shipment Inspections (PSI). Instruct the inspector to perform a Hardness Test on the metal and a Functional Pour Test using wax or sugar to verify the mold's release capability. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site verification of their production facilities.

Focus on Tooling Ownership and Mold Life Guarantee. Negotiate a contract that specifies the buyer owns the Custom Mold/Die after the tooling fee is paid. Demand a guaranteed shot life (e.g., 50,000 to 100,000 cycles). For bulk orders, aim for a 10-15% discount on the unit price once the initial tooling costs are amortized.

Metal molds are heavy and prone to oxidation during sea transit. Require the supplier to use VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) bags and vacuum packaging. Molds should be crated in fumigated wooden boxes (ISPM 15 compliant) with internal bracing to prevent movement, as any dent in the mold cavity renders the product useless.

Use Secured Payment Services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon confirmation of shipping documents. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. For large-scale custom projects, consider a 30-40-30 payment structure: 30% deposit, 40% after sample approval, and 30% upon final inspection before shipment.
