Manual tong b type manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize the torque capacity and size range. A standard B Type tong typically handles pipe sizes from 2 3/8 to 13 3/8 inches. Ensure the rated torque capacity (often up to 55,000 ft-lbs or more) matches your drilling rig's requirements. Additionally, verify the material grade, which should be high-strength alloy steel that has undergone heat treatment to ensure durability under extreme stress.

Compliance with API Spec 7K (Specification for Drilling and Well Servicing Equipment) is non-negotiable for international oilfield operations. Ensure the manufacturer provides Material Test Reports (MTRs) and Load Test Certificates. For European markets, CE marking and ATEX certification for explosive atmospheres may be required.

Focus on the locking mechanism and hinge pin integrity. The tong should feature a safety latch to prevent accidental disengagement. Request documentation on Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), such as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), performed on critical load-bearing welds and castings to identify internal flaws before shipping.

Check for the accessibility of grease nipples and the ease of die replacement. High-quality B Type tongs should use standardized tong dies that are easy to source. Inquire if the supplier provides repair kits including pins, springs, and cotter keys, as these are high-wear components in harsh drilling environments.

The main risks include material fatigue failure due to substandard casting and logistical damage. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and insist on a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by third parties like SGS or BV to verify that the dimensions and metallurgy meet the Proforma Invoice specifications.

When negotiating, clarify the lead time for heat treatment, as this is often a bottleneck. Ask for tiered pricing based on the quantity of spare parts (dies and pins) included. For large orders, negotiate a staggered payment schedule linked to production milestones: e.g., 30% deposit, 40% after successful load testing, and 30% upon presentation of the Bill of Lading.

Manual tongs are heavy and prone to corrosion. Require seaworthy packaging, including anti-rust oil coating and vacuum-sealed plastic wrapping inside reinforced wooden crates (IPPC heat-treated). For shipping to regions like North America or the Middle East, use FOB or CIF terms to clearly define the point of risk transfer, and ensure the HS Code (843143) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays.

Look for Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site verification. Check their export history to see if they have experience supplying to major oilfield service companies. Review their ISO 9001 quality management documentation and confirm they have a dedicated after-sales technical support team capable of providing English-language manuals and troubleshooting guidance.
