Macaw cage manufacturers

Macaws have powerful beaks capable of crushing standard wire. You must prioritize 304-grade stainless steel or heavy-duty wrought iron with a non-toxic powder coating. Ensure the wire diameter is at least 4mm to 5mm and the bar spacing is between 1 inch and 1.5 inches to prevent escape or injury. Avoid zinc or lead-based paints, as these are highly toxic to parrots.

For a single Macaw, the minimum dimensions should be 36"(W) x 48"(L) x 60"(H) to allow for wing expansion. Look for cages with bird-proof locking mechanisms (such as gravity locks or spring-loaded latches) because Macaws are highly intelligent and can open simple latches. A play-top design is recommended for additional exercise space, and the cage must include removable slide-out trays for easy sanitation.

Ensure the manufacturer complies with ASTM F963-17 (Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety) if accessories are included, and verify that the coating is SGS certified lead-free and zinc-free. For the EU market, check for REACH compliance regarding chemical substances in the plastic or rubber components of the cage feet and feeders.

High-quality sourcing should include stainless steel swing-out feeder bowls that cannot be dislodged by the bird. The cage should feature natural wood perches of varying diameters to prevent bumblefoot (pododermatitis). For commercial buyers, ensure the unit has heavy-duty casters with locking brakes to facilitate easy movement of these large, heavy structures.

The biggest risks are structural deformation during transit and corrosion due to sea salt air. To mitigate this, insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons with internal foam corner protectors. For stainless steel items, ensure they are vacuum-wrapped or treated with anti-rust agents if using sea freight.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers; typically, ordering a 20GP container can reduce the unit price by 20-35% compared to LCL (Less than Container Load) orders. Request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) clause in your contract to ensure the welding quality and coating thickness meet your standards before final payment.

Large cages are often classified under HS Code 7323.99 or 7326.90. Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that may apply to certain steel products from specific regions. Always use FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over your shipping costs and choose a freight forwarder experienced in oversized cargo to avoid unexpected 'out-of-gauge' surcharges.

Utilize the Secured Trading Service on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment. Never transfer full funds upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is the industry norm. Verify the supplier's Audit Reports and 'Diamond Member' status to ensure they are a legitimate factory rather than a small trading middleman.
