Kitchen steel scourer manufacturers

The most critical factor is the grade of stainless steel used. AISI 410 or 430 stainless steel is standard for cost-effective cleaning, while AISI 304 offers superior corrosion resistance for high-end food service environments. Ensure the wire is circularly wound from a single continuous strand to prevent fraying and shedding, which can lead to food contamination. The weight typically ranges from 15g to 100g per unit; for B2B procurement, a 40g-60g weight is generally considered the 'sweet spot' for durability and ergonomics.

Buyers should demand SGS or Intertek lab reports to confirm the metal composition and ensure the absence of heavy metals like lead or cadmium. For the European market, compliance with LFGB (Lebensmittel- und Futtermittelgesetzbuch) is essential, while US buyers should look for FDA-grade material safety data sheets (MSDS). Additionally, check for ISO 9001 certification of the manufacturing facility to ensure consistent tension and winding density across large batches.

High-quality scourers feature smooth-edged wire technology to prevent scratching hands while maintaining high abrasive power for removing burnt-on food. Look for high elasticity and shape retention; a premium scourer should spring back to its original shape after compression. Furthermore, anti-rust treatment is vital; low-quality carbon steel scourers will rust within 24 hours of first use, whereas high-chromium stainless steel variants remain rust-free for their entire lifecycle.

For retail-ready sourcing, blister cards or polybags with custom-printed headers are standard. For industrial or catering use, bulk packing in master cartons (e.g., 100-200 units per carton) reduces shipping volume and costs. Many suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer Private Label (OEM) services, allowing you to customize the mesh density and weight to meet specific price points or brand requirements.

The primary risk is material substitution, where a supplier uses galvanized iron instead of stainless steel to lower costs. To mitigate this, request a salt spray test report and perform a magnet test (though some 400-series stainless is magnetic, 304 is not). Another risk is weight shortage; always specify the net weight per piece in the contract and use a third-party pre-shipment inspection to weigh random samples from the batch.

Steel scourers are low-value, high-volume goods, making shipping costs a significant portion of the Landed Cost. Negotiate based on Full Container Load (FCL) quantities to maximize space utilization. When negotiating on Made-in-China.com, ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 10k, 50k, and 100k units). For long-term contracts, include a raw material price fluctuation clause linked to global steel indices to ensure price stability.

Always utilize Secured Trading services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is held in escrow until shipping documents are verified. For large initial orders, use a 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L). Avoid using non-traceable payment methods for first-time transactions with new manufacturers.

Due to the high volume-to-weight ratio, vacuum packaging can significantly reduce the physical footprint, potentially cutting shipping costs by 20-30%. Ensure the outer cartons are double-walled corrugated fiberboard to prevent crushing during sea freight. For customs clearance, ensure the HS Code (typically 7323.10) is correctly declared to avoid tariff penalties or delays in the destination country.
