Key ring plastic card manufacturers

For long-lasting performance, prioritize High-Quality PVC or PETG materials. The standard thickness for these cards is typically 0.76mm (30 mil), similar to a credit card, to ensure they do not snap under pressure. Ensure the supplier uses UV-resistant inks and a protective laminate overlay (glossy, matte, or frosted) to prevent the printed graphics and barcodes from fading or scratching during daily contact with metal keys.

If the cards are for loyalty or access control, verify the barcode symbology (e.g., Code 128, QR Code, or EAN-13) and ensure the print resolution is at least 300 DPI for error-free scanning. For smart cards, confirm the RFID chip frequency (LF 125kHz, HF 13.56MHz, or UHF) and protocol compatibility with your existing readers. Always request a pre-production digital proof and a physical sample to test scanning reliability before mass production.

Ensure the products comply with ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 standards for physical dimensions if they are standard CR80 size, or custom die-cut standards for 'combo cards.' For the North American and European markets, verify that the materials are RoHS and REACH compliant, ensuring they are free from hazardous substances like lead or phthalates. If targeting eco-conscious consumers, inquire about Recycled PVC (rPVC) or biodegradable plastic options.

The punch hole position and reinforcement are critical; the hole should be placed at least 3-5mm from the edge to prevent tearing. For '3-up' or 'combo' cards (where small tags break off a larger card), the perforation quality must be clean—sharp enough to snap easily but sturdy enough to stay intact during shipping. Consider variable data printing capabilities for unique serialization or personalized member names.

Color discrepancy is a common risk in international printing. To minimize this, provide your designs using Pantone Matching System (PMS) codes rather than just CMYK values. Require the supplier to provide a physical color match sample or a high-resolution photo of the first press sheet. On Made-in-China.com, look for 'Audited Suppliers' who have verified printing facilities and color management certifications.

Plastic card production is highly volume-sensitive due to setup costs. Negotiate for tiered pricing; increasing an order from 1,000 to 5,000 units can often reduce the unit price by 40-60%. If you have recurring needs, negotiate a blanket purchase order where you commit to a yearly volume to lock in lower rates, but request staggered shipments to manage your inventory flow and cash.

Always use Secured Payment services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure your funds are held in escrow until you confirm receipt of the goods. For large-scale orders, insist on a Third-Party Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify the quantity, barcode readability, and packaging integrity before the final balance is paid and the goods leave the factory.

Plastic cards are dense and heavy. For orders under 50kg, International Express (DHL/FedEx/UPS) is preferred for speed and door-to-door tracking. However, for bulk orders exceeding 200kg, Sea Freight (LCL) or Rail Freight (for Eurasia) is significantly more economical. Ensure the supplier uses heavy-duty double-corrugated export cartons and moisture-proof inner packaging to prevent damage during long-transit maritime shipping.
