Isopropyl alcohol manufacturers

Buyers must distinguish between Industrial Grade (99% min), Pharmaceutical/USP Grade, and Electronic Grade. Industrial grade is suitable for general cleaning and coatings, while USP Grade is mandatory for medical and cosmetic applications to ensure low toxicity. Electronic Grade requires extremely low metal ion content to prevent damage to semiconductors and circuit boards.

Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch. Key certifications include ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental standards. For medical use, look for GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance. If exporting to Europe, the supplier must be REACH registered to ensure chemical safety compliance.

Key parameters include Water Content (typically <0.1%), Acidity (as acetic acid), and Non-volatile Matter. High water content can reduce the effectiveness of the solvent in anhydrous applications, while low non-volatile residue is critical for optical and electronic cleaning to prevent streaks or deposits.

IPA is highly flammable and must be stored in UN-certified packaging. Common options include HDPE drums, ISO tanks, or IBC totes. Ensure the packaging has anti-static measures and airtight seals to prevent evaporation and moisture absorption, which can degrade the purity over time.

IPA is classified as a Class 3 Flammable Liquid (UN1219). The biggest risk is regulatory non-compliance, which can lead to customs seizures or heavy fines. You must ensure the supplier provides a valid Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) in the language of the destination country and adheres to IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) codes for sea freight.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone third-party verification by agencies like SGS or Intertek. Request their Hazardous Chemicals Business License and check their export history. Using Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service can provide payment protection until the goods are confirmed to have passed quality inspections.

IPA prices are highly sensitive to raw material costs (Propylene/Acetone) and energy prices. Negotiate based on volume-based pricing tiers; for example, ordering a full 20ft container (FCL) usually reduces the per-unit shipping cost significantly compared to LCL. Consider long-term supply contracts to hedge against market price volatility.

You must provide a Dangerous Goods Declaration, a Commercial Invoice, and a Packing List. Some countries require a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI). Ensure the HS Code (2905120000) is correctly declared to avoid delays and ensure the correct tariff rates are applied.
