Import lamp manufacturers

When selecting lamps, you must prioritize Luminous Efficacy (lm/W) to ensure energy efficiency and Color Rendering Index (CRI), where a CRI > 80 is standard for residential use and CRI > 90 is preferred for high-end retail or galleries. Additionally, verify the Driver Quality, specifically looking for flicker-free technology and a Power Factor (PF) > 0.9 to ensure long-term electrical stability and component lifespan.

Compliance is region-specific: for the US market, ensure products are UL or ETL listed and meet FCC Part 15 for electromagnetic interference. For the EU market, CE marking (LVD and EMC directives) and RoHS certification are mandatory. If you are sourcing smart lamps, they must also comply with RED (Radio Equipment Directive) standards for wireless connectivity.

Perform a Hi-Pot (High Voltage) test and Earth Continuity test to prevent electrical leakage. For lamps with glass or ceramic components, request drop test reports (ISTA 1A/2A) to ensure the packaging can withstand international transit. Ensure that the IP Rating (Ingress Protection) is appropriate for the usage scenario, such as IP44 or higher for bathroom/outdoor lamps to protect against moisture.

Focus on SKU consolidation to increase volume per model, which can trigger bulk discounts of 10-20%. Consider SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) shipping for large floor lamps to significantly reduce volumetric weight and freight costs. Always verify if the supplier offers OEM/ODM services included in the unit price, as custom branding can add value without increasing the base manufacturing cost significantly.

The biggest risks include voltage incompatibility (e.g., 110V vs 220V) and fragile breakage during transit. To mitigate this, strictly specify the input voltage and plug type in the Proforma Invoice (PI) and mandate 5-layer corrugated export cartons with customized EPE foam inserts for internal protection.

Negotiate a warranty period of at least 2-3 years for LED products. Insist on a Defective Allowance (usually 1-2%) where the supplier provides extra units or spare parts (like drivers or LED chips) upfront. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to ensure payment is only released after a successful Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third party.

For high-value or fragile chandeliers, Sea Freight with LCL (Less than Container Load) is cost-effective, but ensure the goods are palletized and shrink-wrapped. For smart bulbs or small components, Air Freight is viable. Always clarify Incoterms; FOB (Free On Board) is generally recommended for buyers who want control over their shipping costs and customs brokers.

Look for the 'Audited Supplier' badge, which indicates the supplier has undergone an on-site verification by independent inspection companies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Review their Audit Reports to check their production capacity, specialized testing equipment (like Integrating Spheres), and history of international trade compliance.
