Hdpe drum scrap manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize the Melt Flow Index (MFI) and Density of the scrap, as HDPE drums are typically made from High Molecular Weight (HMW) resins. Ensure the scrap is 99% HDPE content with minimal contamination from other plastics like PP or PVC. It is critical to confirm if the scrap is regrind (flakes) or baled (crushed), as this affects processing costs and shipping density.

Since HDPE drums are often used for industrial chemicals or lubricants, you must request a Cleaning Certificate or a Decontamination Statement from the supplier. Prioritize 'Triple-Rinsed' scrap to ensure safety during reprocessing. For high-end applications, verify that the scrap is 'Food Grade' origin (e.g., water or juice drums) versus 'Industrial Grade' to avoid residual odors or toxic leaching.

Request a Lab Analysis Report for every batch. Key metrics include moisture content (<1%), ash content (<2%), and the absence of metallic impurities. If purchasing in flake form, specify the sieve size (typically 10-12mm) to ensure compatibility with your extrusion or injection molding machinery. Suppliers listed on Made-in-China.com often provide third-party inspection options to verify these parameters before shipment.

Recycled HDPE from drums is highly valued for its impact resistance and tensile strength. It is commonly used to manufacture non-pressure pipes, plastic pallets, trash cans, and drainage crates. If your end-product requires specific colors, ensure the scrap is sorted by color (e.g., Blue, White, or Natural) rather than 'Mixed Color' to maintain aesthetic consistency.

The Basel Convention strictly regulates the transboundary movement of plastic waste. You must ensure the supplier provides a CCIC (China Certification & Inspection Group) certificate if shipping to certain Asian markets, and verify that the material is classified as 'Clean, Non-hazardous Plastic Scrap' to avoid customs seizures. Always check the Import License requirements of your destination country before finalizing the contract.

Use a staged payment structure linked to quality milestones. For the first order, it is highly recommended to hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a loading supervision. This ensures that the material at the bottom of the container matches the top layer and that no heavy stones or rubber waste have been added to increase weight.

For baled drums, ensure the supplier uses a high-pressure baler to maximize container weight, aiming for at least 18-22 tons per 40ft HC container. For regrind/flakes, use Jumbo Bags (FIBC) to facilitate easy mechanical unloading. Negotiate FOB (Free On Board) terms if you have a reliable freight forwarder, as this allows better control over the demurrage and detention periods at the destination port.

Focus on Supply Stability rather than just the lowest price. The recycled plastic market is volatile; ask for a formula-based pricing model linked to virgin HDPE indices (like Platts or ICIS). Request factory audit videos or live tours via the platform to verify their washing and sorting capacity, ensuring they can meet your monthly volume requirements consistently.
