You must mandate specialized sea-worthy packaging, including steel cradles, shock-absorbing materials, and vacuum-sealed moisture protection. Ensure the bill of lading specifies 'Fragile: Glass Lined' and consider Marine Insurance that specifically covers 'glass lining chipping' risks.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Check their Export Experience specifically in the chemical equipment sector. It is highly recommended to use Secured Trading Services to ensure your payment is only released after the Third-Party Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) confirms the equipment meets the technical data sheet.

Do not negotiate on price alone, as this may lead to the use of inferior enamel frits. Instead, negotiate for extended warranty periods (e.g., 18-24 months) and the inclusion of critical spare parts (like specialized gaskets or mechanical seals). Request a staged payment plan: 30% deposit, 60% after successful FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), and 10% as a quality retention fund after installation.

Due to the weight and dimensions, these often require Open Top (OT) or Flat Rack (FR) containers. Ensure the supplier provides a detailed packing list and HS Code (typically 841950) to facilitate customs clearance. For North American or European destinations, ensure all wooden packaging is heat-treated and bears the ISPM 15 stamp to avoid costly customs delays or rejections.
