Glass hemisphere dome manufacturers

Buyers must distinguish between Borosilicate glass, Soda-lime glass, and Optical-grade K9 crystal. Borosilicate is preferred for high-temperature environments and thermal shock resistance, while K9 crystal is ideal for high-transmittance optical applications and decorative displays. Ensure the refractive index and light transmission rate (typically >90%) meet your specific functional requirements.

Focus on dimensional tolerance (usually ±0.1mm to ±0.5mm) and surface quality. For optical or industrial use, request the S/D (Scratch/Dig) standard, such as 60/40 or 40/20. Check for bubbles, inclusions, and striae within the glass, as these can compromise structural integrity and visual clarity. Annealing quality is also critical to prevent spontaneous cracking due to internal stress.

Depending on the application, products should meet ISO 9001 for manufacturing consistency. For laboratory or industrial use, look for ASTM E438 (Standard Specification for Glasses in Laboratory Apparatus). If the dome is used in lighting fixtures, ensure compliance with CE, UL, or RoHS directives to facilitate smooth customs clearance in EU and US markets.

Yes, professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer customization including anti-reflective (AR) coatings, UV-cut filters, and drilled holes for mounting. When requesting custom shapes, provide CAD drawings and specify the edge finish (e.g., ground, polished, or beveled) to ensure compatibility with your housing or assembly.

Glass is highly fragile; therefore, customized plywood crates or double-wall corrugated boxes with PE foam inserts are mandatory. Insist on palletization to minimize manual handling. It is highly recommended to use CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) terms or purchase independent cargo insurance that covers 'All Risks' to protect against loss during sea or air freight.

Focus on the yield rate rather than just the unit price. A lower price often indicates poor annealing or lower-grade raw materials. Negotiate a sample-to-mass-production consistency clause, and request a 5-10% discount on bulk orders exceeding 500 units. For long-term partnerships, discuss mold cost amortization if custom sizes are required.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or Intertek. Check their Export Experience to your target country and review their Transaction History. Request a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify that the optical clarity and dimensions match the approved gold sample before final payment is released.

Use Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon confirmation of receipt and quality. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. Always document the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) as an annex to the purchase contract to provide legal leverage in case of quality disputes.
