Frog lure manufacturers

When evaluating frog lures, focus on hollow-body softness, as the material must be pliable enough to collapse easily upon a strike to expose the hooks. Ensure the hooks are heavy-duty double weedless hooks made of high-carbon steel or stainless steel to prevent bending during heavy cover extraction. Additionally, check for internal weighting systems that ensure the lure always lands upright and features a sealed hook eye to prevent water from entering the body cavity.

There are two primary designs: Walking Frogs and Popping Frogs. Walking frogs feature a pointed nose designed to glide through heavy lily pads and thick vegetation without snagging. Popping frogs have a cupped mouth that creates a splashing sound, making them ideal for open pockets of water or edges of weed beds where extra surface commotion is needed to attract predatory fish like bass.

Buyers must ensure compliance with environmental regulations such as REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) for the European market and California Proposition 65 for the U.S. market, particularly regarding lead content in weights and phthalates in soft plastic materials. Verifying ISO 9001 certification of the manufacturer ensures consistent production quality across large batches.

Perform a tensile strength test on the hook-to-body connection and a leakage test by squeezing the lure underwater to check for air bubbles. Evaluate the paint adhesion by performing a scratch test; high-quality lures use UV-resistant paint that won't peel after prolonged exposure to sunlight and water. Requesting a 3rd-party inspection report before shipment is highly recommended for bulk orders.

The primary risks include material inconsistency, where mass-produced units use stiffer plastic than the approved sample, and intellectual property (IP) infringement. Ensure the design does not violate existing patents of major brands. To mitigate these risks, use Secure Payment services on Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment and quality satisfaction.

Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., discounts of 10-20% for orders over 5,000 units) and discuss OEM/ODM customization costs upfront. Many suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer lower MOQs for trial orders; use this to test market response before committing to high-volume inventory.

Frog lures are lightweight but bulky due to packaging. Use FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over your freight forwarder and shipping costs. Ensure the supplier uses blister pack packaging with reinforced outer cartons to prevent the soft bodies of the lures from being crushed or deformed during long-term sea freight or air transit.

Always prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com, as these companies have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Review their export history and buyer feedback specifically for fishing tackle to gauge their expertise in the industry and their ability to meet international trade deadlines.
