Fabric scissors manufacturers

When evaluating fabric scissors, the blade material is paramount; look for High-Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel (440C or 6CR13) for long-lasting sharpness. The hardness rating should ideally be between HRC 58-62 to ensure the edge doesn't dull quickly when cutting synthetic fibers. Additionally, prioritize ergonomic handle designs—such as rubberized grips or offset handles—which reduce hand fatigue during prolonged industrial use and allow the lower blade to stay flat on the cutting table for precision.

Request a cutting test report or video demonstration showing the scissors cutting through multiple layers of denim or delicate silk without snagging. Check for adjustable pivot screws, which allow for tension calibration as the tool wears over time. For high-end garment manufacturing, ensure the blades have a knife-edge grind or micro-serrations to prevent fabric slippage, and verify that the alignment (set) of the blades is consistent from the pivot to the tip.

For the EU market, ensure the product complies with REACH regulations regarding chemical substances in plastic handles. If the scissors are intended for school or craft use, they must meet EN71 safety standards. For industrial tools, look for ISO 9001 certified manufacturers to ensure consistent production quality. Always confirm that the packaging includes protective blade guards to prevent injury during transit and storage.

The primary risk is oxidation and rusting during sea freight due to high humidity. You should require suppliers to use anti-rust oil coating and VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) packaging. Another risk is blade misalignment caused by rough handling; ensure the master cartons have reinforced corners and a drop-test certification to protect the precision calibration of the shears.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for customized branding (OEM) on the blade via laser engraving, which adds value to your private label. Ask for a tiered pricing structure where the price drops by 10-15% at the 1,000-unit mark, and request that spare pivot assemblies be included in the bulk shipment to reduce future maintenance costs.

Fabric scissors are classified as sharp tools, so they must be declared accurately under the correct HS Code (typically 8213.00) to avoid customs delays. Ensure the supplier provides a Commercial Invoice and Packing List that clearly states the intended use as 'tailoring tools.' For shipping to the US or Europe, use DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms if you want the supplier to handle all import duties and 'last-mile' delivery risks.

Always utilize the Secured Trading Service provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released after you confirm receipt of the goods. Before placing a large order, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify that the blade sharpness and handle durability meet your specific requirements.
