Donghai crystal manufacturers

Authentic natural crystals from Donghai typically contain natural inclusions (cotton wool, ice cracks, or mineral specks) and exhibit birefringence (double refraction). When purchasing, buyers should request a CMA or CAL accredited gemstone identification certificate. Natural crystal feels noticeably cooler to the touch than glass and has a Mohs hardness of 7.0, meaning it cannot be scratched by a steel knife.

Quality is primarily graded based on Clarity (transparency), Color saturation, and Carat weight. For carved pieces, the craftsmanship and symmetry are paramount. In the B2B sector, 'AAA' grade usually refers to eye-clean stones with no visible flaws, while lower grades are suitable for mass-market jewelry or industrial use. Ensure the supplier specifies the polishing quality, as high-end Donghai crystal should have a mirror-like luster without visible sanding marks.

For export to the US or EU, products must comply with REACH regulations and CPSIA standards, specifically regarding lead and cadmium content in metal settings (if the crystal is part of jewelry). For raw mineral specimens, ensure they are cleaned of hazardous mining residues. Always verify that the packaging meets ISPM 15 standards if wooden crates are used for heavy crystal geodes.

Donghai is the world's largest crystal distribution center; therefore, prices fluctuate based on raw material imports from Brazil and Madagascar. Buyers should monitor the market price per gram for specific varieties (e.g., Titanium Rutilated Quartz vs. Amethyst). Bulk discounts of 20-40% are common when purchasing by the 'string' or 'kilogram' rather than individual pieces.

The biggest risk is breakage due to improper cushioning. Demand multi-layer protection including bubble wrap, foam inserts, and double-walled corrugated boxes. For high-value geodes, custom wooden framing is mandatory. It is highly recommended to use Made-in-China.com's secured payment services and insist on Full Cargo Insurance covering 'All Risks' to mitigate losses from transit damage.

Prioritize suppliers on Made-in-China.com that have the 'Audited Supplier' badge, which indicates a third-party field inspection of their factory or showroom. Request a live video tour of their warehouse to confirm stock levels and ask for historical export records (Bill of Lading) to prove experience with international shipping and customs clearance.

Focus on long-term partnership potential rather than a one-time kill. Negotiate based on weight-based pricing for beads and piece-based pricing for carvings. Ask for 'Master Samples' to be kept by both parties to ensure the bulk shipment matches the agreed-upon quality. If ordering customized carvings, negotiate a 30% deposit and 70% balance payment after receiving high-resolution inspection photos.

Ensure the HS Code (typically 7103 for precious/semi-precious stones) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays or fines. Be aware that some countries have specific environmental or 'conflict mineral' declarations, though these rarely apply to quartz. Always provide a detailed packing list that specifies the botanical/mineral name of the crystal to facilitate smooth clearance.
