Discount smelling salts manufacturers

The primary active ingredient is Ammonium Carbonate, often mixed with ethanol and essential oils. B2B buyers must ensure the ammonia concentration is within safe physiological limits to prevent respiratory irritation. It is critical to request a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and verify compliance with REACH (EU) or OSHA (US) standards for chemical handling and labeling.

Since ammonia is highly volatile, air-tight sealing is the most important factor. Look for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles or glass ampoules with induction-sealed liners. Ensure the supplier guarantees a shelf life of at least 12-24 months for unopened units, as 'discount' items may sometimes be older stock with diminished potency.

Smelling salts are predominantly used in powerlifting, hockey, and football to trigger the inhalation reflex and increase alertness. They are also sold to first-aid kit assemblers. When sourcing, specify if you need single-use crushable ampoules for medical kits or multi-use 'dry' bottles for athletic retail, as the manufacturing requirements differ significantly.

For the sports market, the activation method is key. 'Dry' salts require the addition of a few drops of water; ensure the granule size allows for even activation. The scent profile (e.g., peppermint or menthol additives) should be consistent to mask the harsh chemical odor without reducing the respiratory stimulant effect.

Ammonium carbonate is often classified under Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Class 8 or 9 depending on concentration. You must confirm that the supplier on Made-in-China.com can provide UN-certified packaging and has experience with Dangerous Goods (DG) shipping. Failure to declare these correctly can lead to customs seizure or heavy fines at the port of entry.

Low price points should not compromise safety. Implement a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) focusing on leakage tests and potency sampling. Use Trade Assurance or secure payment terms to ensure the goods match the pre-production sample in terms of ammonia strength and bottle durability.

Check the HS Code (typically 3004.90 or 2836.99) against your country's tariff schedule. In the US, be aware of FDA regulations regarding 'stimulants'; ensure the product is marketed as a fainting deterrent or athletic aid rather than a drug to avoid complex medical device registration requirements.

Focus on MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) vs. Purity. Suppliers often offer a 20-30% discount for orders exceeding 5,000 units. Negotiate for staggered shipments to ensure you always receive the freshest batches, preventing the ammonia from losing potency in your own warehouse.
