Crumb rubber material manufacturers

When purchasing crumb rubber, the most critical factor is the mesh size (granule size), which typically ranges from 10 mesh to 80 mesh. For athletic tracks and playgrounds, 1-4mm granules are standard, while finer 30-80 mesh powder is required for asphalt modification or rubberized plastic molding. Additionally, ensure the purity level is high, with a fiber and metal content of less than 0.01% to prevent equipment damage and ensure surface smoothness.

For environmental and safety compliance, buyers must verify that the material meets REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) standards, especially regarding Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). If the material is intended for children's playgrounds, it must comply with EN 71-3 (Safety of Toys) or ASTM F1292 (Impact Attenuation). Always request a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) to confirm the chemical composition and handling requirements.

The quality is heavily dependent on the feedstock. Whole Tire Buffing (WTB) from truck tires generally yields higher-quality crumb rubber with better elasticity and tensile strength compared to passenger car tires. Ensure the supplier uses a cryogenic grinding process for high-precision fine powders or ambient grinding for standard landscaping and sports turf infill to achieve the desired physical properties.

Crumb rubber is highly versatile: Coarse granules (1-6mm) are primarily used for infill in synthetic turf, playground safety surfaces, and rubber bricks. Medium mesh (10-30 mesh) is ideal for Rubberized Asphalt Concrete (RAC) in road construction. Fine powder (40+ mesh) is used as a filler in new tire manufacturing, automotive seals, and waterproof coatings to reduce raw material costs without compromising durability.

The biggest risk is contamination (textile or steel wire residue) and moisture content. High moisture can lead to clumping and mold during long-term sea transit. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service and mandate a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) by third parties like SGS or Intertek to verify the mesh consistency and purity levels before the final payment is released.

Crumb rubber is a volume-driven commodity. Prices are usually quoted per metric ton (MT). Buyers should negotiate based on annual volume commitments rather than one-off orders to secure a 10-15% discount. For new buyers, look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com who offer sample orders of 25kg bags before committing to a full 20ft or 40ft container.

Crumb rubber is typically packed in 25kg PP bags or 1-ton Jumbo bags (FIBC). For cross-border shipping, ensure the bags are UV-resistant and moisture-proof. Because rubber is a high-volume, low-value product, sea freight is the only economically feasible method. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin to take advantage of potential Free Trade Agreement (FTA) tariff exemptions in your specific country.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone on-site factory inspections. Check for ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certification, as reputable manufacturers must have advanced dust collection and recycling systems. Request a video factory tour to inspect their grinding machinery and raw tire stockpiles to ensure they have the production capacity to meet your lead times.
