China mucuna pruriens extract manufacturers

The primary active compound is L-Dopa (Levodopa). Standard commercial specifications usually range from 15% to 99% purity. For pharmaceutical or high-end supplement applications, a purity of 98% or 99% is often required. Additionally, ensure the extract is derived from the seed of the plant, as this contains the highest concentration of bioactive alkaloids.

To ensure safety and international compliance, buyers should prioritize suppliers with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), ISO 22000, and HACCP certifications. For specific markets, USDA Organic, EU Organic, Kosher, and Halal certifications are highly recommended to meet consumer preferences and regulatory hurdles.

Request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch. Pay close attention to Heavy Metal limits (Lead, Arsenic, Mercury, Cadmium), Microbiological counts (Total Plate Count, Yeast & Mold), and Pesticide Residue levels. Professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com should also provide Third-Party Lab Test Reports (e.g., from SGS, Eurofins, or Pony Testing) to validate the L-Dopa content.

Mucuna Pruriens Extract is widely used in dietary supplements for cognitive health, mood support, and bodybuilding. Due to its sensitivity, it must be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. The powder is often hygroscopic, so ensure the packaging uses double-layer plastic bags inside and fiber drums outside to maintain stability during transit.

The most significant risks include adulteration (spiking with synthetic L-Dopa) and batch-to-batch inconsistency. To mitigate this, always request a pre-shipment sample and use Trade Assurance services. Ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Technical Data Sheet (TDS) to facilitate smooth customs clearance.

Focus on tiered pricing based on L-Dopa concentration. A 99% extract will have a much higher price floor than a 20% extract. Negotiate for free samples (you pay shipping) to verify quality first. For long-term partnerships, discuss annual volume discounts and ask for fixed pricing agreements to protect against fluctuations in raw material (Mucuna seed) costs.

Herbal extracts are often classified under HS Code 130219. Check your local FDA or EFSA regulations regarding L-Dopa, as some countries have specific dosage limits or classify high-purity L-Dopa as a scheduled substance. Ensure the Commercial Invoice and Packing List clearly state the botanical name (Mucuna pruriens) and the extraction ratio or active ingredient percentage.

Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Permit. Use the Verified Supplier filter on Made-in-China.com to identify manufacturers who have undergone on-site audits. Avoid using high-risk payment methods for first-time orders; instead, utilize Escrow or Letter of Credit (L/C) for large-scale transactions to ensure the goods meet specifications before funds are fully released.
