Cast net manufacturers

Focus on the mesh size, net diameter (radius), and material type. For bait fish, a 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch mesh is standard, while larger fish require 1 inch mesh or greater. Ensure the material is High-Tenacity Monofilament Nylon for transparency and low water absorption, or Multifilament Nylon for softness and durability. The weight per radius foot should be at least 1 to 1.5 lbs to ensure a fast sink rate, which is critical for trapping fast-moving schools.

High-quality cast nets use real lead weights or environmentally friendly steel/coated weights that are double-knotted or secured within a lead line sleeve to prevent tangling. Check that the weights are evenly distributed to ensure the net opens in a perfect circle. For saltwater applications, ensure the weights and swivel are corrosion-resistant to prevent premature rusting.

Buyers must verify local fishing regulations in the target market, as many regions have strict limits on mesh size and net diameter to prevent overfishing. Ensure the supplier provides Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for lead components and check for ISO 9001 certification to guarantee consistent manufacturing. In some markets, Lead-Free certifications are required for specific inland waterways.

Professional nets feature a heavy-duty 80-100 lb test hand line, a high-grade stainless steel swivel, and double-selvage (double mesh) at the horn and lead line for extra strength. Beginner nets often use lighter weights and thinner monofilament, whereas professional versions prioritize sink speed and spread consistency.

The biggest risk is material degradation and incorrect weight specifications. Some suppliers may use recycled plastics that become brittle under UV exposure. Always request a pre-shipment inspection to verify the actual weight of the net, as shipping costs are high and returning heavy items is economically unfeasible. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to protect your payment until quality is verified.

Negotiate based on Total Weight and Material Grade rather than just unit price. Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 100, 500, 1000 units) and request customized branding on the hand-line or carrying bucket to add value. If you are a repeat buyer, negotiate for 30% deposit and 70% balance against B/L to improve your cash flow.

Cast nets are heavy and relatively compact, making them ideal for Sea Freight (LCL or FCL). To reduce costs, ask the supplier to use vacuum packaging or compressed boxing to minimize the volumetric weight. Ensure the HS Code (typically 5608.11) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays and ensure you are paying the correct import tariffs.

Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualification on Made-in-China.com. Utilize Audit Reports provided by third-party agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts; always use official corporate accounts or the platform's secure payment gateway to ensure traceability.
