Blank lure manufacturers

When sourcing blank lures, the material composition is paramount; ensure they are made of high-quality ABS plastic for durability and buoyancy consistency. Check for ultrasonic welding seams to ensure the lure is 100% watertight, preventing water ingress that ruins action. Additionally, verify the internal rattle system (steel or tungsten balls) to ensure the weight transfer mechanism functions smoothly for long-casting performance.

Focus on the line ties and hook hangers. For saltwater applications, these must be stainless steel wire-through constructions to prevent pull-outs under heavy load. For freshwater, ensure the split ring grooves are clean and reinforced. Request a pull-test report from the supplier to confirm the hardware can withstand the rated breaking strength required for your target species.

Compliance varies by region. For the US market, ensure the products are Lead-Free to comply with state-specific regulations like California Proposition 65. For the EU, materials should meet REACH standards to ensure no restricted phthalates are present in the plastic. Always ask for a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) to verify the chemical composition of the raw resins used.

Request a video of a tank test or a small batch of pre-production samples. A high-quality blank should have a balanced center of gravity; for example, a crankbait must track straight without 'tuning' out of the box. Check the bill/lip thickness and angle, as these dictate the diving depth and vibration frequency. Consistency across molds is the hallmark of a premium supplier.

The biggest risk is mold aging or deformation, which leads to asymmetrical lures that won't swim correctly. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to ensure payment is only released after quality verification. Another risk is shipping damage; since blanks are often unpainted and unprotected, insist on bubble-wrap layering and rigid outer cartons to prevent crushing or scratching during transit.

If you require a proprietary shape, expect a mold fee ranging from $1,500 to $5,000. Negotiate a rebate program where the mold fee is refunded once your cumulative order volume reaches a certain threshold (e.g., 20,000 units). For existing 'open mold' blanks, volume discounts of 10-20% are typical when moving from 1,000 to 5,000 units. Always clarify if the price includes 3D eyes and split rings.

Blank lures are lightweight but take up significant volume (dim-weight). For orders under 100kg, Air Express (DHL/FedEx) is fastest but expensive. For bulk B2B orders, Sea Freight (LCL - Less than Container Load) is the most economical. Ensure your supplier provides an accurate packing list and HS Code (typically 9507.90) to avoid customs delays and ensure correct duty application.

Look for the 'Audited Supplier' badge, which indicates the factory has been physically inspected by third-party agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Review their export history and specialization—a factory that specializes specifically in hard baits will have better quality control than a general plastic toy manufacturer. Check for ISO 9001 certification to ensure a standardized production process.
