Bee pin manufacturers

When sourcing bee pins, the base material determines durability and perceived value. Zinc Alloy is the industry standard for 3D designs due to its fluidity in molds, while Iron is a cost-effective choice for soft enamel. For premium collections, Brass offers the highest detail crispness. Ensure the plating is electroplated (Gold, Silver, or Black Nickel) rather than spray-painted to prevent peeling and oxidation over time.

Soft Enamel is the most popular choice, featuring recessed colored areas and raised metal borders, providing a textured, 3D feel. Hard Enamel (Cloisonné style) is polished flat, resulting in a smooth, jewelry-like finish that is highly durable and scratch-resistant. For intricate bee wing details, screen printing over the enamel may be necessary to capture fine veins.

Since pins are often worn on clothing or bags, they must comply with chemical safety regulations. Ensure the supplier provides Lead-Free and Nickel-Free certifications to meet REACH (EU) and CPSIA (US) standards. Additionally, for children's products, the attachment mechanism (clutch) must be secure to prevent choking hazards, and sharp points must be disclosed.

The Butterfly Clutch is the standard, economical choice. However, for heavy-duty use or high-end retail, Rubber Backings offer better comfort against the skin, and Deluxe Flat Head Clutches (Magnet or Locking) provide superior security to prevent the pin from falling off. For delicate fabrics, a Magnetic Attachment is recommended to avoid piercing the material.

Always request a Pre-Production Sample (PPS) before authorizing mass production. Digital mockups can be misleading regarding color accuracy. Verify colors using the Pantone Matching System (PMS) to ensure the physical product matches your brand identity. For large orders, consider a third-party inspection at the factory to check for enamel overflows, bubbles, or plating scratches.

Focus on Tiered Pricing; bee pins have high setup costs (mold fees) but low marginal costs. Negotiate for a waived mold fee if the order exceeds 500-1,000 units. Additionally, discuss packaging customization (backing cards or velvet bags) early in the negotiation, as these add significant retail value for a low incremental cost.

Bee pins are small and dense, making them ideal for Air Express (DHL/FedEx/UPS), which usually takes 3-7 days. Ensure the supplier provides a Commercial Invoice with the correct HS Code (7117.19) for imitation jewelry to avoid customs delays. Be aware of Import Duties and VAT in your destination country, as these are typically not included in the FOB price.
