American mahjong set manufacturers

American Mahjong sets must include 166 tiles, which is more than the 144 tiles found in Chinese sets. This includes 8 Jokers and 8 Flowers. Additionally, the tiles must feature Arabic numerals and Roman letters (indices) in the corners to make them playable for English speakers. Ensure the set includes four racks with pushers (often called 'all-in-one' racks) to accommodate the specific gameplay style of the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL).

The industry standard for high-quality tiles is dense, scratch-resistant Acrylic or Melamine. Melamine is preferred for its substantial weight and 'clack' sound during play. For the engravings, specify hand-painted or high-precision machine-inked designs to prevent fading. If you are targeting the luxury market, look for multi-layer tiles (e.g., 'back-painted' or glitter backs) and cases made of heavy-duty aluminum or reinforced fabric with secure latches.

Since these sets often contain small parts, they must comply with CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) requirements, particularly regarding lead content in paint and phthalates in plastic components. Ensure the supplier provides a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) if the product is marketed as a game for ages 12 and under. For the carrying case, verify that synthetic materials meet California Proposition 65 standards for chemical safety.

Racks should be made of impact-resistant plastic or polished wood. The integrated pushers (swing arms) are the most common point of failure; ensure they have reinforced hinges and move smoothly without catching. Request a stress test report or a video demonstration showing the pusher's stability when moving a full row of tiles.

Missing tiles are a frequent issue in bulk orders. You should mandate a 100% piece-count inspection by a third-party agency before shipment. Specifically, require the inspector to verify the presence of the 8 Jokers, as these are unique to the American version. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to hold payment in escrow until the quantity and configuration are verified.

Mahjong sets are high-density products; a single set can weigh 4-5kg. For bulk orders, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the only economically viable option to maintain a competitive retail margin. If you are testing the market, Sea-plus-Express (Matson/ZIM) offers a balance between speed and cost. Ensure the packaging includes double-walled corrugated cartons and EPE foam inserts to prevent the heavy tiles from cracking the plastic racks during transit.

Focus on customization of the 'Joker' tile and the case logo, which adds significant brand value. Negotiate for spare tiles (blanks) to be included in each set at no extra cost, as this provides excellent after-sales service for your end customers. For orders over 500 units, aim for a 15-20% discount off the sample price and request FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over your logistics costs.

Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualifications on the platform. Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com, as they have undergone on-site inspections. Use Trade Confirmation documents to clearly define the 'American' specification to avoid being sent standard Chinese sets by mistake.
