Airlaid nonwoven fabric manufacturers

When evaluating Airlaid fabric, you must prioritize Basis Weight (GSM), typically ranging from 40gsm to 500gsm, depending on the application. Key performance metrics include Absorption Capacity (often required to be 10-12 times its own weight) and Tensile Strength in both MD (Machine Direction) and CD (Cross Direction). For hygiene products, ensure the SAP (Super Absorbent Polymer) content is evenly distributed to prevent gel blocking.

For medical or hygiene use, suppliers should hold ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certifications. If the product is destined for the EU, REACH compliance is mandatory to ensure no harmful chemicals are present. For food-contact applications (like meat pads), verify FDA or EC 1935/2004 food-grade certification. Additionally, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a significant benchmark for skin-friendly textiles.

The bonding method significantly impacts the final product. Latex Bonded Airlaid (LBAL) offers high strength and is ideal for industrial wipes. Thermal Bonded Airlaid (TBAL) uses synthetic fibers to create a soft, bulky structure perfect for diapers and sanitary napkins. Multi-Bonded Airlaid (MBAL) combines both methods for superior absorption and strength, suitable for high-end medical disposables.

To optimize costs, consider the raw material composition; a higher percentage of fluff pulp is generally more cost-effective than high-synthetic blends. Evaluate the roll width and diameter to maximize container loading efficiency—standardizing these can reduce shipping costs by 15-20%. Always request a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis that includes waste rates during high-speed conversion.

Request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third party like SGS or Intertek. Specifically, ask for a 'Water Absorption Rate' test and a 'Dusting' test to ensure the fabric doesn't shed fibers. Utilizing Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services can provide an extra layer of protection by ensuring payment is only released upon confirmation of quality.

Negotiate based on volume-based pricing tiers. For Airlaid, price fluctuations are often tied to global wood pulp indices. Suggest a formula-based pricing model linked to these indices for long-term contracts. Also, negotiate for free replacement of defective rolls exceeding a 2% threshold, which is a common industry standard for nonwovens.

Airlaid fabric is highly sensitive to moisture and compression. Ensure the contract specifies heavy-duty PE film wrapping and palletization to prevent deformation. During sea freight, request desiccant bags inside the container to prevent 'container rain' from damaging the absorption properties of the pulp.

Check the specific HS Code (typically 5603) for your target country to identify applicable Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD). For example, certain regions may have specific tariffs on Chinese nonwovens. Always verify if a Certificate of Origin (CO) can provide preferential tariff treatment under existing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
