Buyers should prioritize high-grade cast acrylic panels over extruded ones for better light transmission and UV resistance. The internal light source should utilize high-efficiency LED modules (SMD 2835 or 5730) with a color temperature typically between 6500K and 7500K for optimal brightness. Ensure the frame is made of anodized aluminum alloy for structural integrity and heat dissipation, and verify that the LGP (Light Guide Plate) is laser-dotted to prevent dark spots and ensure uniform illumination across the entire surface.

For global trade, the light box must meet specific electrical safety standards. For the North American market, UL or ETL certification for the power adapter and internal wiring is essential. For the European market, CE (LVD and EMC) and RoHS certifications are mandatory to ensure the product is free from hazardous substances and safe for public installation. Additionally, for outdoor use, an IP65 or higher waterproof rating is required to protect against dust and moisture ingress.

Durability is determined by the LED lifespan (typically rated for 50,000 hours) and the quality of the acrylic. Ask the supplier for salt spray test reports if the units will be used in coastal areas to prevent frame corrosion. Furthermore, ensure the acrylic is UV-stabilized to prevent yellowing or brittleness when exposed to direct sunlight. A high-quality light box should maintain at least 80% of its original brightness after 3 years of continuous operation.

A top-tier manufacturer on Made-in-China.com should offer OEM/ODM services, including custom dimensions, silk-screen printing or UV printing for logos, and various mounting options (wall-mounted, hanging, or freestanding). Advanced features like smart dimming, motion sensors, or RGB color-changing effects via remote control should also be available for high-end retail or exhibition scenarios.

Acrylic is highly susceptible to cracking and scratching. You must insist on export-standard packaging, which includes PE protective film on both sides of the acrylic, thick EPE foam corner protectors, and 5-layer corrugated outer cartons. For large-scale orders or LCL (Less than Container Load) shipping, wooden crates or plywood cases are mandatory to prevent compression damage during transit.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for spare parts (extra LED modules and power drivers) to be included at no cost, as these are the most common failure points. For bulk orders, request a staggered payment structure (e.g., 30% deposit, 70% after third-party inspection but before shipment) to maintain leverage over quality control.

Utilize the Secured Trading Service provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payments. Before the final balance is paid, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a 'Light-up Test' for at least 24 hours to check for circuit stability and heat accumulation. Verify that the power plug type matches your target country's local standards (e.g., Type A for USA, Type G for UK).

Light boxes are often 'light but bulky,' meaning you will likely be charged based on volumetric weight. To optimize shipping costs, ask the supplier if the frames can be shipped SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) to reduce volume. Ensure the HS Code (typically 94056100 for illuminated signs) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays and to accurately calculate import duties in your specific country.
