T-shirts cotton manufacturers

When sourcing cotton T-shirts, the fabric weight (GSM - Grams per Square Meter) is a primary indicator of quality; standard T-shirts range from 160-180 GSM, while premium 'heavyweight' options exceed 200-240 GSM. Additionally, prioritize Combed Cotton over Carded Cotton, as the combing process removes short fibers and impurities, resulting in a smoother, stronger, and higher-quality yarn. For high-end retail, verify the yarn count (e.g., 30s or 40s)—higher numbers indicate finer, softer threads.

To ensure market access and consumer safety, products should ideally hold OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, which guarantees the textile is free from harmful chemicals. If you are marketing 'Organic' T-shirts, a GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certificate is mandatory to validate the supply chain. For the US market, ensure compliance with CPSIA (especially for children's wear), and for the EU, adhere to REACH regulations regarding dye safety and lead content.

For large-scale orders (500+ units) with simple designs, Screen Printing is the most cost-effective and durable method. For high-detail, multi-color designs or small batches, DTG (Direct-to-Garment) printing offers superior resolution. If you require durability for sportswear or vibrant synthetic blends, Sublimation or Heat Transfer are preferred. Always request a pre-production sample to verify color accuracy (Pantone matching) and print hand-feel.

Size standards vary significantly between Asian, US, and EU charts. You must provide a detailed Size Specification Sheet (including chest width, body length, and sleeve length) to the supplier. Request a tolerance limit of ±1cm to 1.5cm in your contract. Professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com can often provide 'Western Fit' or 'Oversized Fit' patterns specifically tailored for North American or European demographics.

The most common risk is 'Quality Fade', where the bulk production does not match the approved sample. Mitigate this by using Third-Party Inspection services (like V-Trust or SGS) to perform a Final Random Inspection (FRI) before the balance payment is made. Another risk is shrinkage; ensure the contract specifies that the fabric must be pre-shrunk, with a maximum shrinkage rate of less than 5% after washing.

Negotiate based on Total Volume rather than single orders; suppliers are more likely to lower the MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) if you promise a recurring seasonal collection. Be aware that custom dyeing (Pantone matching) usually requires a higher MOQ (typically 500-1000 units) compared to using stock fabric colors. Always ask for a breakdown of costs including fabric weight, printing technique, and packaging to identify where savings can be made.

Utilize Trade Assurance or Secure Payment services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your funds until delivery is confirmed. Regarding logistics, for small trial orders, Air Express (DHL/FedEx) is fastest, but for bulk inventory, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is essential to maintain healthy profit margins. Ensure your supplier provides a Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and Bill of Lading that accurately reflect the HS Code for cotton T-shirts (6109.10) to avoid customs delays.
