Cotton hoody manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize 100% Combed Cotton or Cotton-Polyester blends (e.g., 80/20) depending on the desired hand-feel and durability. Pay close attention to the Fabric Weight (GSM); a standard mid-weight hoody typically ranges from 280 to 320 GSM, while heavyweight premium versions exceed 350-400 GSM. Additionally, verify the yarn count (e.g., 26s or 32s) to ensure a smooth surface for printing or embroidery.

To ensure market entry and consumer safety, verify that the supplier holds OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, which guarantees the absence of harmful substances. For organic claims, a GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certificate is mandatory. If exporting to the US, ensure compliance with CPSIA (especially for children's hoodies), and for the EU, adhere to REACH chemical regulations.

Focus on the stitching technique, specifically looking for double-needle topstitching on necklines, armholes, and waistbands for reinforced durability. Check the shrinkage rate, which should be controlled within ±3-5% through pre-shrinking processes. Furthermore, inspect the quality of components like YKK zippers (if applicable), reinforced eyelets, and high-density ribbed cuffs that retain shape after multiple washes.

Suppliers typically offer Screen Printing for cost-effective large runs, Direct-to-Garment (DTG) for complex multi-color designs, and 3D Embroidery for premium branding. For high-end streetwear, inquire about Puff Printing or Acid Wash treatments. Ensure the supplier can provide Tech Packs and digital mockups to align on logo placement and sizing before mass production.

Always request a Pre-Production Sample (PPS) for approval before the full run begins. For large orders, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to conduct a During Production Check (DUPRO) and a Final Random Inspection (FRI). Never release the final payment until the inspection report confirms the goods meet your specified AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) 2.5/4.0 standards.

Understand that price is highly sensitive to volume and fabric color. Sourcing 'market colors' (black, navy, grey) often allows for lower MOQs (e.g., 50-100 pcs), whereas custom-dyed fabrics may require 500+ pcs. Negotiate based on a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model, including shipping and duties, and use platforms like Made-in-China.com to compare verified manufacturers' audited reports to leverage competitive bidding.

For small trial orders, DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is convenient as the supplier handles all customs and taxes. However, for bulk sea freight, FOB (Free On Board) is preferred for experienced buyers to maintain control over shipping costs and choice of forwarder. Ensure all HS Codes (typically 6101.20 for cotton hoodies) are correctly declared on the Commercial Invoice to avoid customs delays or fines.

Utilize Secured Payment services provided by reputable B2B platforms like Made-in-China.com, which offer escrow-like protection where funds are only released to the supplier upon proof of shipment. Avoid direct wire transfers to private bank accounts; always ensure the beneficiary name matches the registered company name on the business license.
