Bocce balls manufacturers

For professional and commercial use, prioritize solid resin or synthetic composition balls over water-filled or hollow plastic versions. High-quality resin ensures consistent weight, balance, and impact resistance. Ensure the balls are precision-ground to a tolerance of +/- 0.05mm to guarantee a true roll. For tournament standards, the diameter should typically be 107mm and the weight approximately 920g, though sets for recreational use may vary.

Request drop test reports and Shore Durometer hardness tests (typically aiming for D80-D85). The balls must withstand repeated high-velocity impacts without cracking, chipping, or losing their spherical integrity. Ask the supplier if the colors and patterns are injected throughout the material rather than just painted on the surface, as surface paint will quickly wear off during play.

If the sets are marketed as toys or for family use, they must comply with EN71 (Europe) or ASTM F963 (USA) standards. Specifically, ensure the materials are BPA-free and lead-free, passing REACH or RoHS certifications. For the carrying cases, verify that the textile dyes and zippers meet local safety regulations to avoid customs seizures.

Look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com that offer laser engraving or deep-mold branding for the balls themselves. Additionally, evaluate the quality of the carrying case; high-denier nylon (600D or higher) with reinforced stitching and custom logo embroidery adds significant perceived value for retail or corporate gifting sectors.

Bocce sets are high-density cargo, meaning they are heavy but occupy little space. This can lead to crushed packaging if stacked at the bottom of a container. Ensure the supplier uses double-walled corrugated export cartons and internal foam dividers to prevent the balls from knocking against each other during transit. Always negotiate FOB terms to maintain better control over the shipping costs and insurance.

Utilize the Secured Trading services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until the goods are shipped. It is highly recommended to hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). They should check for weight consistency across all 8 balls in a set and ensure the 'pallino' (target ball) is included and meets specs.

Standard MOQs for custom resin sets usually start at 500-1,000 sets. To lower costs, suggest a staggered delivery schedule or ask for a discount by using the supplier's standard mold sizes while only customizing the color or logo. Mention your intent for a long-term partnership to negotiate a 10-15% discount on sample fees, which should be credited back to your first mass-production order.

Check the HS Code (typically 9506.69) for your specific country to determine import duties. For example, US buyers should monitor Section 301 tariffs on Chinese-made sporting goods. Ensure the supplier provides a clear Certificate of Origin to help you benefit from any existing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that might reduce your tax liability.
